Our Story
Meet Jason (right pic)
Hi, I'm Jason — and I've been running Total Powerbags Fitness classes for over 10 years.
I actually started out as a member myself, using the classes to boost my fitness for football. What began as a way to get match-fit turned into so much more. Over the years, Powerbags became a cornerstone of my life — fuelling my passion for running and eventually helping me compete in hybrid fitness events like Hyrox. It's genuinely one of the best all-round training methods I've come across.
My journey to becoming an instructor is one close to my heart. Total Powerbags Fitness was founded by Lee Welland (left pic), who built something truly special — not just a fitness class, but a real community. When Lee was diagnosed with kidney cancer, I stepped in to keep the classes going while he fought his battle. Sadly, we lost Lee after four years, and I made the decision to carry on his work and keep the community he'd built alive. That means everything to me.
Every session I run is guided by the values Lee believed in: fitness is for everyone, hard work matters, and you earn your results. I've since qualified as a fitness instructor and keep my training fresh and up to date — because our members deserve that.
I won't pretend the sessions are easy. They're not. We'll push you harder than a typical gym session — but that's exactly why people keep coming back. There's nothing better than watching someone surprise themselves.
If you're thinking about giving it a go, come and find out what you're made of.
